First Steps Into Your Brand-New Wordpress Blog

I like Wordpress. I hate the slow loading time of the admin side and the code can be shorter but it's the best I got with all its features right now. I've been testing it for a few days now and I started to put together a list of things I need.

I liked the fact that the learning curve was actually: none. Intuitive, especially for those who know what their doing. The plugins are another story. Not so great documented I managed to scratch the surface enough for my current needs. Maybe I did more then scratch the surface but I'm acting modest here ;) Ido think the DB design could have been a lot better.

And I have their if: endif; kind of PHP coding. This is something to laugh at for a C++ coder. Any (if/for/while ...) that is going to a new line needs a {}. This allows you to better follow the code and ... it's the C++ way, the way of our forefathers!

5anta Claude: Merry Christmas And A Happy New Year

I'll try to keep this short as all of you are probably still busy with the Christmas cooking and I'm cooking too if you can believe it or not ;) This is the last post this year unless the sky falls down, which I really doubt will happen!

So, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a great time with your families / loved ones. Leave work and enjoy some quality time off (I know it's tough ... for me anyway). I also wish you a Happy New Year, a better year than the one ending now and a wealthy year. But, most important, I wish you health.

And now some SEO cheering:

May Google rank your sites faster and higher in the new year, charge you less on PPC and send you more visitors than Digg does if you hit the homepage. May your affiliate earnings and conversion skyrocket and prescription drugs sales plummet ;)  and may your affiliate programs give you a higher percentage in the new year and pay you weekly daily. May the link juice flow thicker the year to come  and your inbound links count increase exponentially, faster than the increase in numbers of Zombies in Resident Evil. May your adult sites be hit by stampedes of ideal customers (credit card in one hand and ... in the other) and your casino sites be run over by very deep pocket passionate players. And may Amazon increase cookie life-span and affiliate share. Long live PPC!

All the best,
5ubliminal aka 5anta Claude.

New Google Keyword Tool - SKTool

I just noticed this one and I assume it's new. I like it ... oh shit I like and and what I like most is the lack of captcha. I'm digging into it now and so should you. First thing I noticed is that raw output is much lighter then the old captcha tool used to generate. That had 250KB - 1MB outputs per query but this one is light hence easier on their servers. The digg down categories are also superb. Look into them as they will help a lot. This will be the Mecca of niche discovery.

I like how things are going with Google. They seem to open up more and more. I will find some evilness in this move but not right now. I'm currently enjoying it!

Weirdest PHP 5.2.6 BUG - One Liner From Hell

I was loading this site in Internet Explorer and it was timing out everytime! Same thing happened on my local server. WTF? I started to debug my 5hield but it was all ok so I went on looking for errors. Eventually I managed to find some hints about a file that was timing out. Guess what?! A CSS FILE! A one line CSS file that proves again that size does not matter ... when you're writing code. Read the rest of this entry »
